RIO DE JANEIRO – The Rio 2016 Olympic committee has hired Renato Ciuchini as its chief commercial officer, describing the Brazilian as having “more than 20 years of experience working with global technology and telecommunications companies.”
Ciuchini replaces Flavio Pestana, who left for undisclosed personal reasons in February. The position was the temporary responsibility of CEO Leonardo Gryner.
Ciuchini, an electronics engineer with a Master’s degree in business administration, will be responsible for sponsorship sales, partner services, ticketing and licensing, among other areas.
He was the Latin America commercial vice-president for Convergys, and also previously worked for TIM, Avaya, Telecom Italia Group and AT&T.
In July, the committee hired Marco Aurelio Costa Vieira as its new chief operating officer, about a month after Roderlei Generali was fired.
